Funeral services for Mrs. Vera A. Kepler, 83, longtime Webster City resident, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with Don Basye officiating and with burial in Cass Center cemetery. Mrs. Kepler died Thursday morning [December 29, 1983] at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Emil Hanus, Eagle Grove.

Vera Agnes Davenport, daughter of Heil and Jane Hamilton Davenport, was born Sept. 4, 1900, at Lehigh. She later resided in the Blairsburg community for awhile, later moving with her family to Mineota, Minn. She was graduated from high school at Marshall, Minn., after which she taught in the rural schools at Redwood Falls, Minn. She was married Jan. 20, 1925, at Webster City to Harold Raymond Kepler, and the couple resided in Webster City. She was employed at the Daily Freeman-Journal, the Hahne Printing Co. and the Hamilton County hospital, retiring from the hospital in 1965. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dec. 22, 1962.

She is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Coleman of Webster City, Mrs. Donald (Marie) Hanus of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Emil (Lorraine) Hanus of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Donald (Charlotte) Johnson of Webster City, and Roger Kepler of Hawthorne, Calif.; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Elva) Day of Webster City and Mrs. Alonzo (Edna) Fisher of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Harold, Jr.; two brothers, Harold Davenport and Clifford Rothrock; one sister who died in infancy; a grandson; and her parents.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, the American Legion Auxillary and the Women of the Moose.
