MRS. BERNARD DIES IN CITY

Mrs. Louis G. Bernard, 83, longtime Webster City resident, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient since August 16. She had been in failing health the past year. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. M. V. Chastain officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Louise Krieguer, daughter of Fredrick and Concorde Krieguer, was born Jan. 1, 1871, in Bellefosse, Alsace, France. She was reared and educated in France, coming to the United States as a young girl with her sister. They came to the home of their father and a sister, living in Illinois, later moving to Iowa on a farm near Woolstock. In February, 1905, she was united in marriage to Louis G. Bernard. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard farmed in the Woolstock and Webster City community, having lived for the past 44 years on the home place five miles north of Webster City.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died July 26, 1954, and her parents; one sister and one brother. She is survived by one son, Fred, living on the home farm; three grandchildren, Marina, Paulette and Dennis Bernard; one sister, Mrs. Justine Krieger of Webster City; and several nieces and nephews. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in France and was a member of the French Lutheran church east of Woolstock.
