Leona M. Smith, 78, died May 4, 2001, at home of lung cancer. Born in Renwick, Iowa, she lived in Hesperia for 13 of her 43 years in California. She attended the First Baptist Church in Hesperia and was a retired branch officer for Security Pacific Bank in Orange County. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law Gayle and Vern Ott of Hesperia, stepson Stephen Smith of Ocala, Fla., and stepdaughter Maureen McKee of Columbus Falls, Mont. Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Desert View Memorial Park in Victorville following cremation, with the Rev. Billy Lollis officiating. Desert View Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
