Edwin Forrest Speich, 79, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Humboldt Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottosen, with burial to follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today, May 13, at the Harris Funeral Home at West Bend.

Edwin Speich was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Renwick, Iowa, the son of Antone and Ellen (Johnson) Speich. He attended Vernon Consolidated School near Renwick and graduated from Ottosen High School in 1942. He entered the armed services during World War II and served his country from 1944-1946. Upon his return, he worked at various jobs before settling in Ottosen in 1971 where he farmed for his livelihood. Edwin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Otteson and the Otteson American Legion Post 535 Leist Veer Kamp, and was president of the Iowa Chapter of the 42nd Rainbow Division.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters, Robert and his wife Karen of Algona; Norman and his wife Della of Hampton; Arland and his wife Marva of Marion, Iowa; Verona Berninghaus of Fort Dodge; Evelyn Walston of Gladbrook, Iowa; and Ruth Speich of Otteson, along with numerous neices of nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
