HUMBOLDT, Iowa-- Marie E. Mills, 86, of Humboldt, passed away July 24, 2007 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt with the Rev. David Hobbs officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Swiss Cemetery near Renwick. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Rose Mills of Hardy; grandchildren, Cris and Jon Chartier of West Des Moines, and Susy Mills of Chicago, Ill.; great-grandson Riley Chartier of West Des Moines; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Harold Willey of Livermore; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Jackie Quick of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; sisters-in-law, Dona Gene Mills of Renwick and Evelyn Quick of Fort Dodge; and a number of Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; daughter, Myrna; her grandson Jeffrey Mills; and brother Arthur Quick.

Marie Elizabeth Quick, the daughter of Gilbert and Printhia (Lutz) Quick, was born Nov. 19, 1920 at Fort Dodge. She attended Fort Dodge Schools and graduated with the class of 1939. She was united in marriage to George Mills from Renwick on Nov. 17, 1940 at the Epworth Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. The couple farmed in the Renwick area before purchasing and operating the corner store for nearly twenty years. After selling the store, George worked in the office of the Farmers Co-op Elevator. During this time, Marie served as a teacher's assistant for the Boone Valley School District and as a librarian at the Renwick Public Library.

George became a resident of the Humboldt Care Center North and in 1986, Marie made her home at Humboldt Homes. Mr. Mills passed away in 1990 and Marie continued to maintain her home at Humboldt where she was a teacher's assistant at Taft and Mease Schools. She was also employed at the Humboldt Public Library. Marie was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the Understanding Sisters, the Royal Neighbors, the Humboldt Women's Club, and The Humboldt County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
