ROCKFORD, IL - Kenneth G. Lassen, 87, died 4:14 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, in his residence. Born Oct. 24, 1918, in Renwick, Iowa, the son of Emil and Sarah (Fullerton) Lassen. Married the former Eileen Barker on June 26, 1951; she died Dec. 29, 2005. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Member of American Legion Post 33 in Ottawa. Ken retired as a sheet-metal worker with the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 219 and was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Retirees Club. Survivors include sister-in-law, Helene (Robert) Smetzer, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by parents and a sister, Helen Cooter. Service at noon Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the chapel at Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa, with visitation one hour before the service; Father David Kipfer will officiate. Arrangements completed by Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice.
