Word was received by Humboldt and Del Norte friends, of the death of Ralph E. Luick, prominent Del Norte businessman and civic leader. His death occurred Tuesday in San Francisco, after a long illness. Luick was 72 years of age, born on September 9, 1889, in Delmont [should be Belmond], Iowa. His business life included association with the Sego Milk Company, United Milk Products of New York, the Golden State Company, Ltd. and prior to his death he was a designer for the Pelican Bay Construction Company in Del Norte county. He was active in community life of Del Norte county, a member of the Crescent City Rotary Club, of which he was a past president. He was also a member of the Elks Club, and other organizations. He had an active interest in the development of Northwestern California, as did his wife, Maudee Luick, who preceded him in death. Luick, noted for his gentle attitude and kindly understanding, had a large circle of friends throughout Northern California.
He leaves his daughter, Miss Connie Luick an artist - designer of San Francisco, and a son, Ralph E. Luick Jr., research specialist for Boeing in Seattle. Funeral services will be held at the Ocean View Chapel, in Eureka at 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Cremation will take place at the conclusion of the rites. It is requested that instead of flowers, contributions be made to the Knapp Hospital Foundation, in care of Clarence Westbrook, Crescent City, California.
