Better Known as "Charlie," He Spent Over 20 Years As Supt of Buildings and Grounds

Charles G. Luick, former superintendent of buildings and grounds at Science, died Saturday, at the age of 75, at the home of his son-in-law, George Zentgraf, following a long illness at home and at the Wahpeton Hospital. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church. Coming to this city in 1913, Mr. Luick farmed in Iowa and North Dakota. Mr. Luick operated a butcher shop in Wahpeton and served at Chief of Police, after which he worked at the State School of Science as superintendent of buildings and grounds. With the exception of two years under the employ of the Indian School, Charlie was associated with the Science School since, until illness forced him to retire last August. Mr. Luick had several other occupations during his lifetime including a motorman on a street car line, cowboy, operating combines in some of the largest wheat fields in the Midwest, and plying the sheep shearing seasons from Mexico to Canada. Surviving are his immediate relatives, his wife and three children: Homer Luick of Minneapolis, Mrs. George Zentgraf and Mrs. Lawrence P. Le Duc of this city.
