The funeral will be held Sept. 19 for Margaret "Peggy" Gillette of Eugene, who died Sept. 15, 2002 of cancer. She was 87. Gillette was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Woolstock, Iowa, to Pearle and Wava Gadberry Robinson. She married G. Herbert Kerns in Idaho on Oct. 29, 1932. He died Sept. 16, 1983. She married Ralph Gillette in Springfield, Oregon on Aug. 20, 1985. He died June 9, 2000.

She graduated from high school. Gillette moved to Oregon in 1937 and lived in Swisshome and Florence before settling in Springfield in 1977. She moved to Eugene two years ago. Gillette was a homemaker and she enjoyed crocheting, hunting, fishing and camping. She was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly and the Springfield Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Owen of Eugene; a son, Richard Kerns of Springfield; two brothers, Paul Robinson of Coos Bay and Joe Robinson of Idaho; a sister, Mavis Robinson of Florence; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Thursday's service will be at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sacred Heart.
