Mary McGinn was born in Newtown Hamilton, County Monaghan, Ireland, December 23, 1845 and passed away January 23, 1926. In 1850, she emigrated to Canada with her parents. From there the family moved to New York state where she grew to young womanhood. On January 31, 1870, she was united in marriage to John F. O'Neill at Port Henry, N.Y.

Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill came to Iowa in March, 1876, and located on a farm in Wright county where they lived until his death on July 27, 1919. Mr. and Mrs. O'Neill were the parents of eight children, all of whom are living with the exception of Owen who died in infancy. The children are Mrs. John Torpey, Hugh, Mary, Mrs. Sebastian Deimerly, Frank, Rose, all of Clarion, and Mrs. Henry Hocraffer of Mason City.

Mrs. O'Neill was a faithful wife and mother giving her entire time to her home and family. She was also a devout member of the Catholic church. Services were held last Tuesday morning, Jan. 26 at St. John's church in charge of Father W.J. Torpey. Internment was in the Catholic cemetery.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Owen Cull of Chicago, Mrs. Talbot Libbe of Chicago, Mrs. Mary Stanley and Phillip and Miss Mary Mariga of Webster City, Mrs. Henry Burma of Allison, T.E. McHale of Iowa City.
