Hector Anderson, 86, of Dows, died Monday, Aug. 4, at home. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 9, at First Lutheran Church in Dows, officiated by Pastor Robert Edwards. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation was prior to the service at the church.
Hector James Anderson, the son of Alexander W. and Nellie Mae Thompson Anderson, was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Dows. He grew up in Dows where he attended schools. He graduated from the Dows High School. He married Ruby Benson Sept. 12, 1943, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple made their home in Dows. He worked for his dad at the Anderson Supply hardware store in Dows. In 1950, he began farming and moved to the farmhouse where he was currently living. He was a hard worker and a wonderful provider. Hard work and providing for his family was how he showed his love. He retired from farming in 1985. He enjoyed coffee time, vacations, camping, boating and dancing with Ruby. He enjoyed automobiles and was constantly buying and selling cars. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dows.
He is survived by two sons, Robert J. and wife, Judy, of Ames, and Roger L. and wife, Mary, of Prior Lake, Minn.; three grandchildren, Bjorn and wife, Kristie, of Lonsdale, Minn., Nicholas, of Prior Lake, Minn., and Stacy James and husband, Jamie, of Otsego, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Luke James; along with numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby, in March 2008; one brother, Verlyn; and one sister, Lauretta Vitale.
Dugger Funeral Home, 100 N. Lee St., in Dows, was in charge of arrangements.
