Dean was born September 24, 1940 the son of Henry John and Clara (Shaw) Harris in Clarion, Iowa. On December 22, 1963 Dean was united in marriage to Glenda Trask in Webster City. Dean was employed with the railroad for many years until his retirement.
Dean enjoyed being in the outdoors whether he was camping, fishing or working in his garden. Dean loved to hunt. When his two boys were still living at home he decided that they could fetch the prize. As he grew older he found that his passion for woodworking grew and became very fond of building numerous kinds of bird and squirrel houses. Dean worked many years for the railroad but that didn't quench his thirst for collecting anything that had to do with trains. He truly enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.
