EUREKA, Illinois - Harry Gordon Whittington, 81, of 407 S. Henry St., Eureka, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday (April 3, 1995) at Eureka Apostolic Christian Home, where he had lived since Jan. 9. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, the Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Burial will be in Olio Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 25, 1913, at Belmond, Iowa, a son of Harry and Chloe Ory Whittington. He married Olga Adams May 20, 1940, at Eureka. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Neil, Naperville; one daughter, Carol Dearth, Pontiac; three brothers, Delmer, Howard and Donald, all of Metamora; two sisters, Mable Zimmerman, Eureka, and Oneida Rider, Metamora; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sisters.
He was an electrician for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He attended Eureka United Methodist Church and was a member of the William C. Hobbs Masonic Lodge, Eureka, Eureka Sportsman Club and the Eureka Fire Department for 35 years. Memorials may be made to the Eureka Sportsman Club.
