LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Carole A. Cassel, 78, died Thursday (April 26, 2001) at her home in La Crescent. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent, with the Rev. Duane Baardseth officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, La Crescent. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crescent, and from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church Tuesday.
Carole was born on June 18, 1922, in Kanawha, to Fred and Clara (Hartwig) Muhm. She married Jacob M. 'Jake' Cassel on March 21, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo. He died on April 21, 1989. She worked for 25 years as a secretary at Norwest Bank in La Crosse. Carole was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent and was very active in the Women's circles. She was an active participant in the La Crescent Apple Fest; the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 595, La Crescent; the La Crescent Senior Citizens; and La Crescent blood drives.
Carole is survived by her daughter, Cyndie Peterson of Riverside, Calif.; two grandchildren, Ryan and Ashley Peterson; a sister, Patricia (Lon) Eggers of Sparta, Wis.; four brothers, Robert (Janet) Muhm of Woodbury, N.J., Merle (Lola) Muhm of Britt, Iowa, Donald (Joann) Muhm of West Des Moines, and John (Joyce) Muhm of Bourbannais, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Charles and Ralph. Carole will be greatly missed by family, neighbors and friends.Mason City Globe Gazette
