BELMOND - Carl H. Traeger, 84, of Belmond, passed away Monday (Sept. 18, 2000) at his daughter's home near Meservey, Iowa. Funeral services for Carl H. Traeger will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond, with Pastor Janet Wearda officiating. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery in Belmond. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Carl, the son of August and Anna Eimbrink Traeger, was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Minnesota. At any early age, he moved with his family to the Belmond area where he attended country school.
Carl was united in marriage with Donna Kroeger on Sept. 20, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. The couple made their home and farmed east of Belmond. Carl discontinued his farming operation in 1975 and was then employed at the seed corn plant until his retirement. He enjoyed helping area farmers during his retirement. Carl always loved working with animals, especially horses - if it involved horses; he wanted to be there. He never missed the Waverly Horse Sale. Carl was a member of the Hitchintogodriving in Clarion.

Carl is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Quam of Thornton, Lorie Halsne and her husband, Richard, of Thornton, and Christa Traeger of Belmond; five sons, Keith and his wife, Karen, of Eagle Grove, James and his wife, Elizabeth, of Grundy Center, Larry and his wife, Deb, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Kevin and his wife, Joni, of Eagle Grove, and Craig and his wife, Dawn, of Renwick; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Edna Kroeger of Belmond; two sisters, Edna Mae Willey of Belmond and Marie Stecher of Belmond; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna, in December of 1999; and one daughter, Debra. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
