Ralph Eugene Classon, 90 of Alden, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Hubbard Care Center, Hubbard, Iowa. Funeral services for Ralph Classon will be Wednesday, July 23rd at the Methodist Church in Alden, IA, with Rev Martha Bennett officiating. A time of visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday, July 22 at Surls Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, IA. Burial will be at the Alden Cemetery, Alden, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o Craig Classon, 491 Apricot Ave, Dows, Iowa 50071.

Ralph Classon was born on the family farm in Oakland Township, Franklin County near the town of Popejoy on February 20, 1918, the son of Ida Olson Classon and Clarence Classon. He attended grade school at Sunny Corner School No. 9 and graduated from Oakland Township High School of Popejoy, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Blanch McDonald on July 6, 1941. They celebrated 50 years together. To this union three children were born Donna, Diane and Craig. Ralph lived and farmed in the Dows and Popejoy area all his life with the most of it on the family farm. Ralph served on the Franklin County REC and Corn Belt Power Cooperative boards and was a member of the Dows Methodist Church and a charter member of the Popejoy Lions Club.

Ralph Classon is survived by his children: Donna Arends and husband Bernard of Nevada, Iowa, Diane Classon of Racine Wisconsin, and Craig Classon and wife Cinda of Dows, Iowa, and seven grandchildren: Jeff, Dawn, Trevor, Chip, Candi, Derek and Doug, ten great grandchildren and several in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceding Ralph in death were his wife Blanch in 1991, parents, brother Curtis Classon, sister Bessie Mulford, and great grandson, Zackery Arends.
