BADGER, IA - Irving L. Larson, 81, of Badger, Iowa, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post #1856. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two sons, Steven Larson of Badger, IA and Craig (Peggy) Larson of Vincent, IA; three daughters, Beth Larson of Altamont, IL, Kimberly (Andy) Burtt of Oronoco, MN, and Leslie (Steve) Lehman of Fort Dodge, IA; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and one due on August 18th; sister, Eleanor Askelson of Badger, IA; sister, Ellen Jane Lemberg of Badger, IA; brother, Duane Larson of Goldfield, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sharon Phillips, brothers and sisters, Glen, Lloyd, Alvin, Norman, Howard, and Charlene.

Irving Lester Larson the son of Gus and Nettie Larson was born August 31, 1926 in Badger, Iowa; he was the sixth child of ten. Irving graduated from the eighth grade in 1940 from Badger Township School Dist. #10. Irving worked with his father and several brothers operating Larson Trucking for several years, hauling grain, coal, cattle, and occasionally transporting detasseling crews. Irv met his wife, Gloria Weiss, while transporting a detasseling crew. At that time Gloria was part of the crew, working for her father. Irv served in WWII with the U. S. Army Air Force from 1945 to 1946 when he received his honorable discharge. On February 25, 1950, Irv married Gloria Weiss and they had six children. After their marriage the couple made Badger their home. Irv worked for New Cooperative grain elevator for 37 years retiring in 1988 after which he continued trucking part time and tending cemeteries. He was a member of Hauge Lutheran Church in Goldfield, Iowa where he served as an Elder and Sunday School Teacher.
