Fort Dodge Messenger, IAEAGLE GROVE/ GOLDFIELD - Loren J. Schipull, the son of John F. and Beulah (Yanney) Schipull, was born on December 5, 1922, in rural Goldfield, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1940. Loren attended college for two years before deciding to enlist in the Army Air Corp in 1942. He became a B-17 pilot with his own crew, flying missions in the European Theater in WWII. Loren's flight logs show he piloted 35 missions for his country. Loren married Marjorie Wiser on August 30, 1945. They farmed near Renwick and were active in the community, including the United Methodist Church, until 1988 when Loren retired from farming and the couple moved to Eagle Grove, and then joined the United Methodist Church there. Loren was actively involved in the following boards and organizations: Boone Valley School Board, W & H Coop Board, Renwick Farmers Coop Board, Central Iowa Mutual Insurance Board, Security Savings Bank Board, American Legion of Goldfield, Renwick and Eagle Grove Masonic Lodge, Wright County Hospice Advisory Board, Eagle Ambassadors, and numerous church boards.
Loren passed away on August 2, 2008, at the age of 85, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; brother, Don and 2 infant granddaughters. He is survived by his four children: Laurel Wirtz of Elkton, MD, Beth Sparks and husband Dan of Omaha, NE, Jim Schipull and Ann of Goldfield and Clarion, and Norman Schipull and wife Luz of San Santiago, Chile; 10 grandchildren: Scott Wirtz, Karen (Wirtz) Dance, Phillip Wirtz, Paula (Wirtz) Richwine, Michelle (Sparks) Smith, Lindsey Sparks, Sean Sparks, Travis Schipull, Kelsey Schipull, and Stephanie Schipull; 11 great-grand children and brother, Stanley Schipull of Clarion.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor L. J. Hartley officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
