July 18, 2002JUNCTION CITY, KS --- Carl J. Asche, 73, Junction City, died Monday, July 15, 2002, at a Junction City hospital. Mr. Asche was a cook for the Norco Correctional Facility until he retired in 1988. He earlier served for 20 years in the Navy before he retired at the rank of E-6 in July 1967. He was born Nov. 8, 1928, in Britt, Iowa, the son of Joe and Ella Hartwig Asche. He had lived in Junction City since 1988. Mr. Asche was a member of the First Christian Church and past president of Eagles Aerie No. 830, and he was a member of the American Legion.
He married Nancy Ascher Asche on July 3, 1993, in Junction City. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Tony Orona, Junction City; seven stepsons; two stepdaughters; a brother, Eldon Asche, Kanawha, Iowa; three sisters, Marie Davis, Santa Rosa, Calif., Ruth Harrison, Junction City, and Esther Likey, Grand Junction, Colo.; and numerous grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the First Christian Church in Junction City. Burial with full military honors will be at the Fort Riley Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio, 44720. Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City is in charge of arrangements.
