Mary E. Ahrenkiel, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt died April 4, 2007 at Angel Home Health Care in Mesa, Arizona. She was born November 17, 1919 in Conrad, Iowa to John L. and Ruth Clarke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taalkeus, "Toky", and grandson, Chris. Survivors include her son, Dr. Robert Ahrenkiel and wife, Sue of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Peggy Kukielka and husband, Mathew of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughters, Angela and Maggie Kukielka of Minneapolis, MN; niece, Jeanne Clarke of Minneapolis, MN and nephew, Roger Burt of Chicago, IL. Mary attended business school and worked for many years as a bookkeeper in Marshalltown and Bettendorf, Iowa, but her best role was that of a mother and grandmother. Courageously she battled kidney failure the last 10 years of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Banner Health Foundation (Banner Garden Hospice House), P.O. Box 1897, Phoenix, AZ, 85001. Services and burial will be held at Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell, Iowa at 11AM, April 28, 2007. Services entrusted to Boeke Funeral Home, Hubbard, Iowa.
