EAGLE GROVE - Martha N. Timmermann, the daughter of Adolph and Mary (Hohn) Arndt, was born December 23, 1911, at Riceville, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Riceville High School. On November 23, 1933, Martha was united in marriage to Walter John Timmermann in Riceville. After marriage, the couple lived on a farm near Riceville. They also lived in Elma, Osage, and in 1942 they moved to Sausalito, California. Martha and Walter returned to Eagle Grove in 1949. Martha was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove since 1951 and was active in LWML. Martha dedicated her life to the care of her daughter, Irene.

Martha passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 96 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter in 1997; daughter, Irene in 1992; an infant grandson, Gary Lee Larson; brothers, Arthur, Walter, Albert and Edward Arndt and sisters, Gertrude Rieken and Hedwig Fouts. Martha is survived by her daughter, Hilda Marie Schulte of Flippin, Arkansas, two grandsons, Allen and Scott Larson; two great granddaughters, two sisters, Eda Rieken of Riceville and Minnie Penney of Osage.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Gary Schultz officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Eagle Grove.
