John C. Ruter, son of Berend and Gretje Eekhoff Ruter, passed away late Tuesday night, January 30, 1973 at the Belmond Community Hospital, Belmond, Iowa following a lingering illness. He was born May 2, 1910 at Wellsburg, Iowa and was 62 years, 8 months and 22 days of age at the time of his death. Mr. Ruter attended the rural schools in Wright County and had farmed south and west of Kanawha, Iowa for 30 years. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of Wright Christian Reformed Church of Kanawha, Iowa. He had served on the consistory of the Church. He was married to Tena Christians November 30, 1932 at the home of her parents in Norway Township, Wright County, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Tena Ruter of Kanawha; one daughter, Mrs. Francis (Gretta) Vaandrager of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three sons, Norman Ruter of Denver, Colorado, Robert Ruter of Kanawha, Iowa and Kenneth Ruter of Denver, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Keiko [Heiko] Ruter of Kanawha, Iowa and Harold Ruter of Garner, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Adrian (Bertha) Ver Brugge of Kanawha, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
