KANAWHA - Pauline Baker, 79, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 22, 1999) at Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Wright Christian Reformed Church, southwest of Kanawha, with Pastor G. David Daley officiating. Burial will be at Wright Christian Reformed Church Cemetery rural Kanawha. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Home in Kanawha and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.

Pauline, the daughter of Peter and Jennie Siemens Eekhoff, was born Feb. 28, 1920, in Wellsburg, Grundy County, Iowa. She attended school in the Wellsburg area and graduated from Steamboat Rock High School. Following graduation, Pauline was employed for a short time at the Hardin County Treasurer's office. Pauline was united in marriage with Anco Baker on March 26, 1941, at the home of her parents in Wellsburg. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Kanawha until 1992, when they moved into Kanawha. Among Pauline's many talents were writing poetry, gardening and sewing. She loved music and enjoyed singing in a community choir and in other small groups. Pauline was a member of the Wright Christian Reformed Church and was active in many ladies organizations, where she willingly served as head of various groups and committees. Above all, Pauline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Anco; six children, Donald Baker and his wife, Mim, of Cedar Falls, Arnold Baker and his wife, Karen, of Newaygo, Mich., Duane Baker and his wife, Debbie, of Chatsworth, Ga., Norman Baker and his wife, Joyce, of Denver, Phyllis Nuehring and her husband, Marvin, of Kanawha, and Marvin Baker and his wife, Beverly, of Janesville, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Eekhoff of Wellsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Edward. Ewing Funeral Chapel, Britt.
