ca. December 1983Services were held for Ed Baker on Thursday, December 1, 1983 at the Wright Christian Reformed Church at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Harold Westra gave the words of comfort to the family and friends. Mrs. Marge Christians served as organist and there was a male quartet, Dennis TerHark, Robert Eekhoff, Wayne Rietema and Robert Eekhoff. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Christians. Casket bears were Paul Christians, Byron Ruter, Jerry Christians, Bob Harle, Herman Schreur and George Eekhoff. Burial was in the Wright Christian Reformed Cemetery with the Carter-Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ed Baker, son of Albert and Lena Baker, was born August 28, 1913, in Wright County and was 70 years of age. He was baptized in the Kanawha Christian Reformed church and was an active member of the Wright church. On November 23, 1939, he was married to Stella Christians and they farmed south of Kanawha for 40 years until he retired in 1979. His life centered around his church, family and farming.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife Stella of Kanawha; three sons, Richard Baker of Anoka, MN; Lewis Baker of Jenison, MI; and Albert Baker of Aurora, CO.; six grandchildren; one brother, Anco Baker of Kanawha. He was preceded in death by one son, Alvin, in 1962, his parents; and three brothers, George, Hemmo and Pete Baker.
