Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28, for George Johnson, at the Kanawha Methodist church at 2 o’clock. Interment was made in the Kanawha cemetery.
George Johnson was born September 6, 1879, in the Netherlands. At the age of three years he came to America with his parents, who settled in Hardin county. When he was 12 years old the family moved to Wright county, where they established a farm home northwest of Clarion. On November 25, 1907, he was married to Myrtle Beving in Breckenridge, Minn., and with her made his home in the vicinity of Kanawha, where he farmed until his retirement about ten years ago when they bought a town house and moved to Kanawha. A couple years ago the Johnsons sold their house and moved to the Good Samaritan home at Mason City.
His death occurred in the morning of August 26, 1957. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Mason City; his son, Wiert of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Mary Eekhoff of Ellsworth, Minn.; two brothers, John and Wiert of Clarion, and a grandson.
