Former Kanawhan Dies in Mason City

Kanawha – Myrtle Johnson, daughter of Dick and Mary Beving was born in Cleves, Iowa, August 24, 1886, and died May 12, 1959, in Mason City. In the early years of her life she moved with her family to Doran, Minnesota, where she lived until her marriage to George W. Johnson at Breckenridge, Minnesota, on November 28, 1907. She and her husband first made their home in Wright County, Iowa, and there after lived in the vicinity of Kanawha until December, 1953, when they moved to Mason City to live in the Good Samaritan Home.

Her husband preceded her in death in August, 1957. Surviving her are: a son, Wiert, of Sioux City; 7 sisters: Anna Erkamp of Palo Alto, California; Patty Wooley of Lisbon, North Dakota, Bertha Larson of Wahpeton, North Dakota; Abbie Seba of Doran, Minn., Elton McDougall and Mary Olthoff, both of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and Emma ....? of Hewitt, Minnesota; two brothers, John Beving of Hewitt, and Henry Beving of Tintah, Minnesota and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the Kanawha Methodist church with Rev. D.D. Samuelson officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. D. L. Wilke and Mrs. Ed Johnson with Mrs. Robert Smith, organist. Interment was made in the Kanawha Cemetery.
