Edgerton Enterprise. MNAfter a few weeks of failing health, Tena Zwart, 87 passed away on Sunday, May 28. She had been a resident of Edgebrook Care Center for many years. She was crippled by arthritis for many years. All of her adult life and much of her youth was spent in the Edgerton area. Funeral services will be held this morning, Wed. May 31, beginning at 10:30, in the Christian Reformed Church of Edgerton.
Her daughter, Jan (Jerry) Brink, and daughter-in-law, Judy Zwart, live in Edgerton, while her sons, Lester and Dean, live in California. She is also survived by sister and other family members in this area.

Funeral services for Tena Zwart, 87, were held Wednesday, May 31, 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton with Rev. Timothy Brown officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton. Music was provided by organist Jean Brown and soloist Jim Huisken sing The Lord My Shepherd Holds Me. The congregation sang Just As I Am, Without One Plea.
Pallbearers were Matt Brink, Ryan Brink, Curt Walhof, Vince Vander Top, Clares Christians, and Rollie Christians.Tena Zwart was born October 21, 1912 in Wright County, Iowa, to Chris and Hattie (Eekhoff) Christians. When she was a young girl she moved to the Edgerton area where she was raised and attended country school. On March 10, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Zwart, and they were blessed with four children. They were engaged in farming in the Edgerton area until their retirement in 1978. Lawrence preceded her in death in October 1988. Since childhood Tena was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. She was a resident of the Edgebrook Apartments and Care Center in Edgerton since 1984. She died in the Edgerton Care Center in Edgerton on Sunday morning, May 28, 2000 at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 7 days. Tena was known for her hospitality, baking ability, patience, and accepting her arthritic condition without complaint.
She is survived by two sons, Lester and Mary Zwart of Irvine, Calif., and Dean and Wilma Zwart of Bellflower, Calif., one daughter, Jan and Jerry Brink of Edgerton, one daughter-in-law, Judy Zwart of Edgerton, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ella De Poorter and Florence Walhof of Edgerton, and Norma Krosschell of St. Paul, Nebr.; one sister-in-law Cornie Prins of Michigan and many nieces and nephews. Tena was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Duane; her parents; four infant siblings; four brothers, George, Arnold, John and Henry Christians; and one sister, Winifred Prins.
