H. Christians Funeral from Chandler Church

Funeral services were held Wed. March 28 at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church for Henry Christians, 62, of Chandler. A family service was held at 10:15 and the public service at 10:30. The Rev. Titus Heyboer officiated, Mrs. Harry Peters was organist and Peter Kroschell, soloist. Pallbearers were Clares Christians, Jerry Prins, John Mollema, Corky Van Eck, Curtis Walhof, Duane Zwart. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Henry Christians was born to Chris and Hattie Eekhoff Christians on January 15, 1911 at Kanawha, Iowa. He was baptized in the Christian Reformed Church at Wright, Ia. He moved with his family to Edgerton, Minn as a young child. As a young man he professed his faith in Christ as his Savior. He was united in marriage to Catherine Vanden Burg of Chandler on Jan. 15, 1936 and they became the parents of four children. He was an active member of the Chandler Christian Reformed Church, having served on consistory and various boards. At the time of his death he was serving as president of the Men's Society and as a member of the Dordt College Board. He passed away at the Pipestone County Hospital on March 25th.

Mr. Christians is survived by his wife, Catherine and 3 daughters Carol, Mrs. Art Hoogeveen, Steen; Beverly, Mrs. James Berghorst, and Marlys, Mrs. Clares Baar, both of Grand Rapids, Mich. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one brother, George, and five sisters, Ella, Mrs. Peter De Poorter; Tena, Mrs. Lawrence Zwart; Florence, Mrs. Peter Walhof, all of Edgerton; Winnifred, Mrs. Cornie Prins, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Norma, Mrs. Les Krosschell of Eagle River, Wisc. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Curtis, and two brothers, Arnold and John. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
