Mary Lou Fawcett, the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Bohy) Malaise, was born August 29, 1926, in Woolstock, Iowa, where she was raised and educated. On November 12, 1946, Mary was united in marriage with Wayne E. Fawcett of Humboldt at Merrill, Wisconsin. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Wayne preceded her in death on March 3, 1973. Mary worked at the Wilson Hatchery in Eagle Grove, Webster City Products and Stephans Cleaners before retiring. She was active with the V.F.W. and looked forward to her Monday morning breakfast with the girls. Mary recently found joy in the company and enjoyment that birds outside her window brought and fed them often.
Mary passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion, at the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law, Sylvia Fawcett; brothers, Harold and Vern Malaise; son-in-law, Jim Spencer and brothers-in-law, Bernard Fawcett and Stanley Lien.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Fawcett of Eagle Grove and Kay Derscheid and husband Rick of Eagle Grove; 3 grandchildren: Michelle Baedke and husband Jeff of Johnston, Brad Spencer and wife Jennifer of Fort Dodge and Jill Malloy and husband Nate of Waukee; 5 great-grandchildren: Nicole and Drew Baedke, Tanner and Teri Spencer and Kaeden Malloy; 2 sisters, Dorothy Lien of Eagle Grove and LaVonne Deuel and husband Don of Vincent; brother, Ray Malaise and wife Judy of Webster City and brother-in-law, Marvin Fawcett and wife Naoma of Goldfield.
