December 6, 2000Paul Wessels of Denver, a former forklift operator, died Nov. 29. He was 73. Graveside services were Monday at Chapel Hill Cemetery. He was born Dec. 27, 1926, in Ventura, Iowa. On Oct. 9, 1946, he married Anne E. Smidt in Kanawha, Iowa. He was a forklift operator for Packaging Corp. of America. His interests included woodworking and crafts. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Barbara Chambers, Denver; a son, James, Pueblo; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. December 21, 2000Paul Wessels died November 29, 2000, at the Porter Hospice, in Denver, CO. Paul Wessels, the son of Leppo and Pauline (Reichardt) Wessels, was born on December 27, 1926, in Ventura, Hancock County. He was baptized in the Immanuel Reformed Church of Klemme in 1927. Paul attended rural Klemme schools through the eighth grade. He worked several years on farms in the Klemme and Clarion area. On October 9, 1946, he married Anne Elizabeth Smidt in the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. The couple lived on farms in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, where Paul was hired to manage the farms. They are parents of two children, a son, James and a daughter, Barbara. In 1962 the family moved to Denver, CO. Paul retired in 1989 from the Packaging Corporation of America in Denver after 23 years of service. Paul was an active member of the 2nd Christian Reformed Church, in Denver, CO. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts and camping.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a sister, Martha, and eight brothers, Fred, William, John, Raymond, Benjamin, Bennie, Henry, and Elmer. Survivors include his wife, Ann of Denver, CO; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Victoria Wessels of Pueblo, CO; daughter and son-in-law Barb and Jerry Chambers of Denver, CO.
