Dr. John Joseph (Joe) Risser, born 1920 in Kanawha, Iowa, and longtime resident of Altadena, California, died May 1, 2006 at his home in San Clemente, California. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith, his 5 children, 6 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Joe dedicated his life to helping others. In his lifelong career as an educator and psychologist, he always found the greatest satisfaction in doing all that he could to help other people achieve their own happiness in life. Joe loved the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean and swam in the ocean whenever he could. His wife and all of his children were at his bedside just before he died, and he will be long remembered for the generosity and goodness of his life. The family will celebrate his life with a private ceremony in Joe's favorite place, Hawaii, and will scatter his ashes in the warm tropical waters he loved so much.
