Funeral services for Gladys S. Spoon, 83, who died Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday September 21, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in the Hammondsburg Cemetery.

She was born in Kanawha, Iowa, and had lived, since 1961, on a farm near Liberty, Center. She worked as a cook at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center for fifteen years, previously working as a bookkeeper for Lambert Diary in Des Moines

She is survived by her husband, Carrole of rural Liberty Center; son, Steve of West Des Moines; three daughters, Janice Carrington of Pahrump, NV, Carolyn Dorrian of West Des Moines, and Debbie Catron of Ackworth; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Visitation will be held 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 20, at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association. Overton Funeral Home in Indianola is handling service arrangements.
