Maxine L. Nelson, 90, of Spooner and formerly of Glen Ellen, Ill., died on Monday, May 26, 2008, at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake. She was born on October 17, 1917, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1935 and then attended nurse's training at Lutheran Deaconess in Chicago. Maxine married Orrin Nelson in Iowa. She worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals in Chicago, as a surgical nurse in Chicago, and as a private duty nurse. In later years she was a buyer in women's clothing.

Maxine is survived by two sons, Jack of Spooner and Victor of West Chicago; three grandchildren, Jason, Brooke, and Lindsey; three step-grandchildren, Dan, Josh, and Stormy; a great-grandson, Caden; two sisters, Mary Jo Marini of Florida and Delores Mallon of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orrin; a grandson, Scott; her parents; and two sisters, Vera [Erland] and Vivian.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
