Mr. ORVILLE D. GARDALEN, 87, of Des Moines, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines. Orville was born in Popejoy, Iowa and lived in Dows, Iowa until 1964 when family moved to Des Moines. Orville was retired from Fawn Engineering.

Orville is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Gardalen of Des Moines; daughters, Marla (Don) Terrell of Des Moines, Nancy (Don Maynes) Gardalen of Des Moines; two sons, Tom (Diane) Gardalen of Holstein, Iowa and John Gardalen, Sr. of Des Moines; a brother, Kenneth (Ilene) Gardalen of Latimer, Iowa; sister, Opal Ross, Saulk Center, MN; eight grandchildren, Kim Duncan, Lisa Bell, Brenda DeHeer, Carren Anderson, Michelle Vitiritto, John Gardalen, Jr., Brian Gardalen, and Alicia Gardalen; many nieces, nephews; and great- grandchildren. Orville was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erin McGriff.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Monday January 23, 2006 at Grandview Park Funeral Home. A family greeting will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
