December 14, 1998OAKLAWN, ILL. William "Bill" Marrs, 82, Oaklawn, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at a hospital in Oaklawn. He was born March 2, 1916, in Paris, Calif., the son of John and Oma Sitton Marrs. He attended Oskaloosa High School and Hamlin High School. He was graduated in 1934 from Coyne Electric Trade School in Chicago. He retired from Wolverine Express Co. in Chicago after working there 35 years. Mr. Marrs was a volunteer for Boy Scouts of America for 17 years. He was a member of Wesleyan Community Methodist Church in Oaklawn.
He married Eura Pletcher in 1937 at Clarion, Iowa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, William Marrs Jr., Livonia, Mich., Ralph Marrs, Chicago, and John Marrs, Flassmoor, Ill.; two daughters, Joyce Marrs, Sauk Village, Ill., and Evelyn Kozmierzack, Ottawa, Ill.; a sister, Opal Parker, Emporia, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Cremation is planned. Memorial services are pending. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Boy Scouts of America.
