SPRINGDALE, Arkansas --Don L. Champlin, 75, of Springdale died Sunday. He was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Clarion, Iowa, the son of Frank and Pearl Wolfe Champlin. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the 319th Infantry, American Legion and the Jaycees. He was a police officer in Iowa and moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1989 from Carlisle, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, F.B. Champlin. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Champlin of the home; two sons, Randall Ross of Rogers and Richard Ross of Des Moines, Iowa; five children by a previous marriage; one brother, William P. Champlin of Torrance, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel in Springdale with pastor Chuck Sackman officiating.
