Dr. Norris James "Jim" Wilson
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in St. Cyrils Catholic Church in Wilsonville for Dr. Norris James "Jim" Wilson, who died April 17 at age 74. Dr. Wilson was born July 27, 1923, in Humboldt County, Iowa, and graduated from high school in Belmond, Iowa, in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Lorraine J. "Lorrie" Grande in 1945.
He earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. He served his internship at Emanuel Hospital in Portland from 1951 to 1952. His orthopedic residencies were at the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center from 1952 to 1954 and Childrens Hospital in Seattle from 1955 to 1956. He practiced orthopedic surgery in Medford at the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic until 1981. After his retirement, he served as orthopedic consultant at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at White City. He also was chief of occupational health for Northwest Permanente. He later worked as a private consultant. He was a member of the church.
Survivors include his wife; son, John G. of Medford; daughters, Mary M. Rock of Canby and Anne M. of Tigard; brother, Dr. George A. of Forest City, Iowa; and two grandchildren.
Inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to the church or to Kaiser Hospice. Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Chapel.
