George W. Shaunce Funeral To Be At 2 p.m. Today

George Wiley Shaunce, 87, died Saturday at the Rotary Ann Home where he had been moved 19 days previous from the Veterans hospital, Des Moines. The funeral will be Thursday (today) at 2:00 at the Sandvig Funeral Home. Rev. Howard Church, pastor of the Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Masonic services were held Wednesday evening at 8:00 at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Shaunce is survived by his wife, who is a resident of the Rotary Ann Home, two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Moon and Mrs. Howard Morgan of Eagle Grove. One son Arthur Dean died in 1953. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one brother Lucian Shaunce of Webb City, Mo.

George Shaunce was born in Stockton, Mo. Sept. 22, 1875 and was married there Nov. 29, 1899 to Ida Ethel Rowland. They came to Eagle Grove in 1901 and for many years he was custodian at the Lela Howland school. He worked at the carpenter trade and also served for ten years on the Eagle Grove Police Force. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, and was a member of the Baptist church and the Masonic Lodge.
