WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - Rosemary Brown, 78, of West Des Moines, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008. She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Williams, Iowa, the daughter of the late Glen S. Wilson Sr. and Lucille Wilson. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 10 years, Roger D. Hodgson, and her second husband of 47 years, Dwight M. Brown.

Mrs. Brown earned her master of science in education from Drake University and was an elementary schoolteacher at school districts in the Eagle Grove area, Grimes, Woodward-Granger, Prairie City, Martindale, Iowa, Springfield, Illinois, and Atlanta, Ga. Rosemary was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, where she taught Bible school. She was a member of the Des Moines Garden Club, and she enjoyed displaying florals and creating educational displays. Rosemary enjoyed her family, gardening, fishing, camping and sewing.

She also was preceded in death by her brother Glen Wilson Jr. She is survived by three children, Glen Hodgson, wife Karen; Denice Smith, husband Jim; and Jeffrey Brown, companion Robbin Vos; six grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Jeffrey, Michelle, Anna and Benjamin; sisters, Violet (Bill) Nelson, Glenda Buckles, Laurel (Floyd) Gardner and Sharolyn (Jordin) Gertsen; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Westover Funeral Home, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Valley United Methodist Church, 4201 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to Drake University College of Education or the Des Moines Garden Club.
