Nick Everett Poncin was born Sept. 2, 1903, on a farm five miles south of Galt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Poncin. He passed away Feb. 28, 1951, at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton.

He received his education in the Galt and Dows public schools and was graduated from the Dows High School in 1924. He was united in marriage to Lucille Norton on June 12, 1928, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The Poncins made their home in Webster City for six months then moved to Galt where they have since resided. He was a member of the Congregational church.

For some time he had been employed by the Wright County highway commission. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Dows and the Isaac Walton league, being a lover of sports and wild life.

His father Nicholas and one sister, Sue preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, his mother, Mrs. Lucy Poncin of Emmetsburg, two sisters, Mrs. Opal Malin and Mrs. Joy McCoy of Minneapolis, Minn. two brothers, Lee of Cedar Rapids and Ray of Emmetsburg, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Galt Congregational church Saturday afternoon with Rev. Harold Sanders in charge. Burial was in the Galt Cemetery where the Masonic Lodge had charge. Mrs. Merel Poolman and Mrs. Marion Blankenship accompanied by Mrs. Edward Nelson at the piano sang "In the Garden," "The Lights of Home" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Pallbearers were E. J. Stuck, M.M. Potter, Marvin Yocum, Marvin Brinkman Carl Abott, and Carroll Shahon.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Earl Pyle, Mrs. Alice Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Pyle, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Pyle all of Charles City, John Knoedler, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Knoedler, Mrs. Don Rasmuson, and Mrs. Donald Larson of Britt, Mrs. Matie Butler, Mrs. Frank Wilson,, Misses Gladys and Vivian Schutt and Mrs. Kenneth Knott of Webster City, Mrs. J. A. Cadwalder of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John Norris, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Nelson of Clear Lake.
