BELMOND - Richard A. Kolpin, 63, formerly of Belmond, passed away Thursday (March 27, 2008) at his home in Kennewick, Wash. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belmond.
Dick was born June 6, 1944, to Richard Kolpin and Minnie (Erdman) Kolpin. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John's Lutheran Church in Belmond. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1962 and moved to California following graduation. He was called to military duty, serving two years in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he continued his employment with Ford Motor Co. He later worked for Uno Cal, eventually transferring to Kennewick, Wash. Dick was recently retired.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wendy, of Kennewick, Wash.; two sons, Allen Kolpin and Brandon Kolpin of California; his mother, Minnie Johnson of Belmond; one sister, Karleen (David) Humphrey of Clear Lake; two brothers, Dallas (Paula) Johnson and David (Ruth) Johnson of Belmond; stepchildren, David and Jennifer; and grandson, Brandon Kolpin. Dick was preceded in death by his father, Richard Kolpin; stepfather, Harris Johnson; maternal and paternal grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We love you Dick, and will miss you!

Richard A. Kolpin passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 27, 2008. All of us who knew and loved Richard are deeply grieved by his loss, but we will try to find comfort in our fond memories. Remembering his wonderful sense of humor and his one-of-a-kind laugh will bring solace to those who miss him so very much.
Richard was born on June 6, 1944 in Belmond, Iowa to Richard Albert and Minnie Kolpin. After a move to California, he worked for Ford Motor Company for a time, then serviced in the US Army where he met and married his first wife, Dana. After an Honorable Discharge, he returned to Ford, then next was employed by Unocal Corporation. While in Unocal's employ he relocated to Kennewick, Washington with his second wife, Wendy in 1992. Richard and Wendy were married for 18 years.
He is preceded in Heaven by his father, Richard and his stepfather, Harris Johnson. Left behind are his beloved wife, Wendy; sons Allen, Brandon (daughter-in-law Carmella); grandson Brandon Jr; mother Minnie; sister Karleen Humphreys; and two half-brothers Dallas and David Johnson and families. He is also survived by his step-children David and Jennifer Dittmer.
