BELMOND - DuWayne K. Kalkwarf, 74, of Belmond, passed away Monday (Nov. 26, 2001) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral services for DuWayne K. Kalkwarf will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Belmond with Pastor Mike Druhl, officiating. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for DuWayne K. Kalkwarf will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour prior to services at the church.

DuWayne, the son of Dick and Grace Pals Kalkwarf, was born Oct. 22, 1927 at home near Belmond. He grew up in the Belmond area where he attended country schools and later graduated from Belmond High School in 1945. After high school DuWayne began farming east of Belmond. DuWayne was united in marriage with Denise Ainslie on June 25, 1950 in Aredale. The couple made their home east of Belmond where DuWayne continued to farm. He never really retired from farming, but slowed his involvement. DuWayne and Denise moved to Lake Cornelia in 1978. DuWayne started delivering Winnebagos with Denise in 1985. The couple enjoyed seeing the country and in 1992 bought their own Winnebago. Traveling between Canada and Arizona, DuWayne enjoyed camping. He especially enjoyed taking the RV into Mexico. DuWayne belonged to the United Methodist Church in Belmond where he served on a variety of boards. He served as board president at the Klemme Elevator for 10 years. DuWayne served on the board at the Belmond Country Club. DuWayne and Denise, together, belonged to a Country Western Dance Club in Arizona and Camping Club in Arizona and Iowa. They were involved with the camping club on a local, state, and national level.

DuWayne is survived by his wife Denise; two daughters, Sharon Bosshardt and her husband, Norman, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Diane Scott and her husband, Tim, of Payson, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Tracey Bosshardt; mother, Grace Kalkwarf, of Belmond; one brother, Loren Kalkwarf and his wife, Alberta, of Garner; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Alan; and father, Dick. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
