CHAPIN - Marie I. Hansen, 64, died Wednesday (Dec. 27, 2000) at her home in Chapin. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home, Sheffield, with the Rev. Remigio P. Panlaqui of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Dows Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Marie Irene Hansen was born on Feb. 17, 1936, in Fort Peck, Mont., to Willard and Alvhild Garsjo Heuer. She moved with her family to Iowa and attended rural schools near Dows. She later moved with her family to Hampton where she graduated from high school. Marie then attended beauty school in Des Moines and was a beautician for many years, owning her own shop in Sheffield and working at the Sheffield Care Center. She also worked at the Sheffield Pharmacy for 18 years. Marie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sheffield and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald, of Chapin; three sons, Ronald and his wife, Janis, of Sheffield, Steven and his wife, Becky, of Casper, Wyo., and Lamont Willard Hansen and his special friend, Marlys, of Mason City; four grandchildren; and her mother, Alvhild Heuer, of Hampton. Marie was preceded in death by her father. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf-Grarup Funeral Home.
