MASON CITY — Dallas L. Nelson, 70, of 221 Fifth St. N.E., died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 1997) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Ken Hatland officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Dallas Lyle Nelson was born April 30, 1927, at Harden Township, the son of Oscar and Mildred (Ellison) Nelson. He graduated from Dows High School. He served in the United States Army from 1946-1949. On April 30, 1977, he married Linda Fisher at Lake Mills. Dallas was employed as a printer, working at Central Show and Klipto. He was last employed at Mid-America Dental prior to his retirement. He enjoyed golfing, watching stock car racing and bowling. He loved talking to people. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Nelson, Mason City; one daughter, Cindalee Bard and her husband, Gary, Reno, Nev.; two sons, Mike Nelson, Auburn, Calif.; and Jim Rothchild and his wife, Rose, Woodland, Calif.; six grandchildren; a special little friend, Brittany Jones; aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Ruth Fisher, Lake Mills; and his beloved dog, Buttons. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lewis Nelson.
