Jerome Wesley Annett passed away Wednesday, June 9, at his home in Pleasant View, at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 18 days. He had been in poor health for a number of years, and in a more serious condition for about five years. He was in a coma for almost a week before his passing.

Jerome Annett, youngest son of John D. and Sabrina Blodgett Annett, was born Feb. 18, 1868, at New Hampton, Iowa. He was united in marriage with Jeanett Carpenter on Sept. 29, 1886, at Ionia, Iowa. To this union five daughters were born: Mrs. Archie (Mayme) Perry, of B.R. Falls; Mrs. Malcolm (Maud) Linnell, of Grand Marais, Minn.; Mrs. George (Bessie) Root, of Dows, Iowa; Mrs. Roy (Ethel) Linnell, of Hoveland, Minn.; and Mrs. James (Phoebe) Hostrawser, of St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Annett and four of her daughters survive and mourn his loss. All attended the funeral. Mrs. Phoebe Hostrawser passed away just the day before her father. Mr. Annett is also survived by a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Annett moved to Wisconsin with his wife and children in 1901, and settled in Jackson County. In 1915 they bought a farm near Disco and were forced to retire about 1938 on account of poor health. While living in the town of Irving he served as director of the Disco school board and also served on the Irving Town board. In 1942 he and Mrs. Annett moved to Pleasant View where they cultivated a wide circle of friends. Last September Mr. and Mrs. Annett celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

The funeral was held at 2 o'clock on Saturday, June 12, 1948. There was a short prayer at the Jackson Cooperative Funeral home and a service at the Methodist church, the Rev. Winslow Wilson officiating. "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" were beautifully sung by Warren Richards, with Mrs. Esther Peterson as accompanist. Miss Alice Zillner, Miss Alice Rosenbaum, Miss Audrey Woof, and Mrs. Ressie Wyss were in charge of the many beautiful floral pieces. Pallbearers were old friends, John Rockney, Mana Peterson, Clyde Harmer, Gilbert Gullickson, Algie Wensel, and Earl Horswill. Interment was at Riverside cemetery.
