Lyle Francis Smith, Jr., the son of Lyle Francis, Sr. and Dorothy Louise (Claude) Smith, was born July 27, 1948, in Clarion, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Clarion and Eagle Grove, moving to Eagle Grove in the early 1960’s. Lyle worked for Umthun Trucking for 26 years. Lyle was a former member of the Church of Christ in Clarion and the Moose Lodge in Fort Dodge. He enjoyed playing bingo, fishing and watching television. Lyle especially loved his dog Fritz, a loyal companion and friend.
Lyle passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007, at his home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 59 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings, James and Donald Smith and brother-in-law, Kevin McCutcheon.
Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Smith of Scottsdale, AZ and Carol McCutcheon of Eagle Grove and fiancé David Jackson of Radcliff; two nieces, Kari McCutcheon and Ellie Knape and her husband Andrew and their daughter Alexa Jayne of Arizona; two nephews, Kolten McCutcheon and Scott Smith and his wife Jennifer and children Joanie and Joshua of Arizona; and an aunt, Margaret Loux of Goldfield.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007, 1:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor David Miller officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
