August 30, 1936 - March 5, 2008

ALDEN—Floyd Ziesman, 71, of Alden, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at the St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, March 10, at the First Lutheran Church, Dows, with the Rev. Bob Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m., on Sunday, at the Linn’s Funeral Home, Iowa Falls. Burial will be in the Otis Grove Cemetery, Dows. The Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Floyd Edwin Ziesman, was born on the family farm in Franklin County on August 30, 1936, the son of Laura Amelia (Schager) and Verner Robert Augustus Ziesman. He attended and graduated from the Oakland Township School of Popejoy. On March 15, 1958, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Jean Miller. To this union four children were born, Kevin, Sherri, David and Rebecca. Marilyn passed away in 1997. On July 24, 1999, he was united in marriage to Julia Marie Altizer Baker Stewart.

Floyd farmed northwest of Alden. Floyd served with the 133rd “Red Bull” Division of the Iowa National Guard, Iowa Falls, from 1959 to 1965. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Dows, serving as a Deacon and on the Board of Trustees, and was a member of the Morgan United Methodist Church, rural Dows. He was also a member of the Popejoy Lions Club, Franklin County Cattleman’s Association, the Franklin County Historical Society, a founding member of the Midwest Ramblers, and had served as precinct co-chair of the Oakland Township Democratic Committee.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Julia Ziesman of Alden; children, Kevin Ziesman of Fort Dodge, Sherri Ayala and significant other, Kent Brown of Fort Dodge, David Ziesman of Alden, Rebecca Heitland and husband, Jason of Iowa Falls, Shannon Stewart and wife, Sandy of Sioux City, Brett Stewart and wife, Melissa of Van Meter and Jeremy Stewart of Phoenix, Arizona; 14 grandchildren, Shandra, Cassie, Hunter, Jordan, Cheyenne, Sierra, Sage, Jessica, Amber, Nick, Alec, Peter, Max and Camryn; one great-grandchild, Khendrick; and siblings, Vern Ziesman and wife, Dorothy of Alden, Phyllis Walton and husband, Wilmer of Sheffield and Donald Ziesman and wife, Janet of Alden.
