Minnie Johanna (Dornath) Knudtson, the daughter of John and Meinhardine (Zimmerman) Dornath, was born on November 16, 1924 on a farm near Palmer, Iowa. She attended country schools near Gilmore City and Bradgate thru the 8th grade. Minnie graduated from Bradgate High School and Nurses Training at the University of Iowa in 1947. On October 17, 1948, Minnie was united in marriage with Jack Lavon Knudtson at the Thor Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in the state of Washington a short time before moving back to Thor to begin their life of farming. To their union two sons were born, Paul and Mark. Minnie was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, a proud lifelong member of the Legion Auxiliary and her church circle. She worked for the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge.

Minnie passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 82 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack and brother, Meinhard Dornath. Survivors include her sons, Paul Knudtson and wife Deb of Thor and Mark Knudtson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren: Jackie (Andy) Ettinger of Eagle Grove, Jenna Knudtson of Des Moines, Brandy (Scott) Little of Boone and Josh Knudtson of Perry; great-granddaughters, Riley and Reese Ettinger of Eagle Grove; sisters, Florence (Harold) Belverud of West Concord, MN and Vivian (Glen) Wergeland of Humboldt; brother, Elven (Jody) Dornath of Humboldt; sister-in-law, Darlene Dornath of Thor ; brother-in-law, Paul (Joyce) Knudtson of Tacoma, WA and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with Pastor Christine Lang officiating. Visitation is Saturday, 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. It was Minnie’s wish to be cremated. Burial will be in East Ullensvang Cemetery at a later date.
