Olga Marie Andersen Helmke was born in Garner, Iowa on November 1, 1915, the daughter of Axel and Anna (Josephsen) Andersen. She grew up in Eagle Grove, Iowa where she graduated from high school.
On January 30, 1939, Olga was united in marriage with Carroll Helmke and the couple moved to their farm in Renwick where they lived and farmed until retiring and moving into town. Olga was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she served on a committee of women who cooked for all funerals. She enjoyed the time she spent with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their spouses.
Olga passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at Forest Hills Nursing Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll and three sisters: Emma Purkapile, Mildred Midland, and Vera Andersen.
Survivors include her three daughters: Carolyn Kraft and husband Don of Renwick and Tulsa, OK, Kathleen Grosvenor and husband Dwight of Kent, WA and Vicky Marty and husband Norm of Ames; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Private family services will be held on Monday August 13, 2007 at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Rev. H. W. Schiller officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
