Gerald “Jerry” Dean Bohy, the son of Henry L. and Mabel I. (Wilcox) Bohy, was born December 9, 1936, in Woolstock, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth.
On October 5, 1994, Jerry married Danna Dimmick at Elk Point, South Dakota. Jerry worked as a truck driver for Ellsworth, Umthun, Rose Way and Hawkeye Wood Shavings. For the last several years he has greatly enjoyed working for Express Shuttle, transporting railroad workers. Jerry enjoyed playing basketball in his younger years. He also liked watching sports, traveling, camping and visiting casinos. He was an Elvis and Green Bay Packers fan.
Jerry passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa at the age of 70 years. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March of 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Lewis Bohy and brother-in-law, Lyle McCollough. Survivors include his wife, Danna Bohy of Eagle Grove; 2 sons, Anthony Bohy of Tampa, FL and Travis Bohy and his special friend Joyce Lawson of Eagle Grove; mother, Mabel Bohy of Eagle Grove; sister, Donnabelle McCollough of Eagle Grove; 6 grandchildren: Jessica (Bohy) Pravecek and husband Gavin of Tyndall, SD, Travis Bohy, Jr. and special friend Amanda Campbell of Eagle Grove, Russell Bisson of Yankton,SD, Chanse Bohy of Yankton, SD, Elizabeth Warren of Tampa, FL and Anthony Warren of Tampa, FL ; 4 great-grandchildren: Kylie, Xavier and Ava of Tyndall, SD and Hailey of Yankton, SD and many other family and friends will also miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor George Pettigrew officiating. Visitation is Friday, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the French Cemetery, Woolstock. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
